eLi - Engineering Life Initiative Munich

Understanding and developing the fundamental principles of life: eLi aims to advance the understanding of the physics of living systems at all scales in order to find solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems in biotechnology and health. To achieve this goal, they are combining novel experimental methods in physics, systems-level computational approaches, and bottom-up conceptual theories to unravel the physical laws that govern the dynamic organization of life from molecules to cells. eLi aims to redesign life-like processes and systems through the use of cutting-edge technologies and development of new life-inspired approaches. The initiative is jointly supported by the Center for NanoScience, the Gene Center and the Arnold Sommerfeld Center for Theoretical Physics.
